Director Statement
n Ludwigsfelde, Brandenburg – as in many european cities – people who where born here have been living together with people who had to flee their countries for decades.
When we founded our association Vorortung e.V in Ludwigsfelde in 2015,
we noticed that despite a great deal of openness for the newcomers, there ware hardly any deeper encounters between refugees and long-established residents.
On both sides we saw inhibitions, prejudices and above all awe of speaking openly about
the escape, feelings and religion.
With “The Foreign Everyday” we were able to facilitate encounters between six people.
The film shows their encounters and draws a more hopeful picture of Brandenburg as the recent rise of the right-wing party AfD in elections would suggest.
We hope that “The Foreign Everyday” reaches many viewers, touches and encourages them to form own opinions, to ask questions and to enter into a dialogue.
